Let It Go to Let Things Flow

First of all, a special welcome to those of you who have transferred over from my soon to be former blog, http://blog.spaclientele.com and the related newsletter - Smart Spa Marketing Tips. After fighting for the last several months with that blog platform, I am "letting it go" and living the advice I am sharing in this column. That blog will come down by March 1, 2012 so that I can make more room in my life for other endeavors, especially those that I do not have to struggle with every time I use them.

You may all also see a change in the newsletter format that this blog arrives in. Now that I've finally figured out how to add it to my Constant Contact newsletters, I expect this is one other area in which I will be simplifying. Currently it comes from Feedblitz, an online blog/newsletter service that I find very difficult to navigate, especially now that they've "improved" it.

Life is too short to voluntarily get aggravated on a regular basis. Thus, as the title suggests, I am working hard to apply the phrase and action "let it go" to many different facets of my world. (See Unblocking the Clogs in Life for more on this topic.)

I've also been making a real effort lately to take the time to make sure I am getting the care and support I need for my mind, body and spirit. Like most of you, as someone who is constantly giving to others in both my massage and consulting practice, it is vital for me to restore and replenish my energy in a variety of ways. Lately, I've been doing this by getting massage and acupuncture twice a month as well as continuing my regular workouts.

But it's funny, I've actually found myself STRESSED to fit these relaxing/healing things in and even make it to the various appointments on time. I've wondered if I could really "afford" to fit them into my already maxed out schedule and if I should instead be spending the time working more. (Yes, it is a sickness to be a work-a-holic.)

Then I got some wise words from my acupuncturist after I rushed into my appointment 15 minutes late and feeling a bit on the edge. After my much needed treatment (and mid-treatment nap), he said "Let things flow like seaweed floats in the water. Stop trying to force them to happen."

It was a really good reminder. So I wanted to pass it on. Whatever is going on in your life or business, try to allow things to flow to, through and around you rather than struggling to get the outcomes or results you think should happen.

Even if things are going well, just allow yourself to float in the moment, the bliss, the excitement of your success and happiness. Just BE where you are right now without trying to see what comes next or worrying about what didn't go well yesterday. Just float and allow the waves and current to support and effortlessly carry you where you are meant to go next.

That's great advice! You can't stress about things you can't control. Also, stress gives you wrinkles and who wants those nasty things!
