Are DIY Anti-Aging Treatments Good for Business?

I wanted to share details on a couple of "do it yourself" anti-aging treatments and machines that I discovered recently. Though I know most spa and salon owners want to find treatments that bring clients back INTO the spa rather than keeping them at home, these gadgets and others like them are clearly a trend of the future. Check out two pretty cool devices I found at ISPA  in November:

I have to admit, I want one of each of these! The idea of being able to improve my skin at home in a pain-free way is totally appealing I am sure it is to a lot of other people. Then I could spend my spa dollars on stuff that was relaxing, pampering and that all feels good.

If I were going to bring either of these into a spa, I would find a way to build them into a package deal. For the laser, for example, if I offered laser skin tightening, I might sell someone a series of treatments and include a machine for them to use for maintenance after they finished the package. With the NuFace, I might create a facial with the NuFace treatment in it and give clients a better rate if they bought their own machine.

Whether you decide to add this kind of product into your offerings is up to you. Either way, I think it is a trend that is here to stay and will only grow in popularity. I'd love to hear your thoughts about it as well as how you have integrated these kinds of products into your own retail and service offerings.

Oh...in case you are interested, the Palovia laser runs about $500 retail - or will when it is officially on the market. For more details on ordering it, contact David Montgomery at www.PalomarMedical.com
 The
NuFace micro-current device costs about $250 retail. Contact Tera Valdex of NuFace at www.MyNuFace.com for more information.
