Please vote for Massage World Record in the Pepsi Challenge
Some people have great ideas. Some people have big ideas. And some people have GREAT, BIG ideas!Such is the case of my friends, David Otto and Gayla Coughlin, who have created the Massage World Record project, or as deemed by the official website: "the world’s first attempt at the BIGGEST massage ever™!" This attempt will take place at one of the large convention centers in Las Vegas, NV where David and Gayla live and practice.
"We thought to ourselves ‘how many people want a free massage?’ and then we immediately thought to ourselves: 'Everyone!’" say David and Gayla. "So, we are aiming, on May 8, 2011, to facilitate a free massage for Everyone (or at least 1500 people), by certified and licensed professional massage therapists, all together in one place, receiving (massage) at the same time!"
It's a really cool concept - and one that will not only attempt to set a world record but will also raise money for Susan G Komen for the Cure® and raise awareness of massage therapy. I can't wait to see it all happening next year!
BUT...to make sure this event happens, your help is needed. The MWR project is vying for a $50K prize from the Pepsi Challenge to provide money for deposits and overhead needed to run the event. To win, they need to get enough votes in August 2010 to put them in the top 10 of all the projects.
So please, take a moment to cast your vote today - and every day all month long. Click here to visit their profile on the Pepsi Challenge website. You can also vote by text. Just text 101631 to Pepsi at (73774).
After you cast your vote, please spread the word to your own contacts and friends, on Facebook, Twitter or your own blog. Then go back to vote each day in August.
This project is one of the most exciting things I've seen in the massage and spa world in a long time. The amount of thought, time, money, and enthusiasm David and Gayla have already put into it is amazing. So I really want to see them succeed - not just for their own accomplishment - but because of the impact this project can make on so many people.
Want to get involved in MWR in some other more tangible way (I am!) such as sponsorship, volunteering or just being on the table to get a massage in May 2011? Well there is room for your help! Just click here to contact David and Gayla about becoming a part of history! You can also keep up with what is going on by joining Massage World Record on Facebook and Twitter .

Thanks a lot, Felicia! Your passion will be a GREAT addition to the project - we look forward to working more with you and everyone who is interested in seeing the BIGGEST massage ever come to life
