Upcoming Classes for Ethics, Marketing & Waterless Spa Treatments

I've been working on my class calendar for the rest of the year and wanted to update everyone on what is coming up. I expect to be adding some more classes in October and November in the Greensboro area as well so be on the lookout for that info in the next week or two. And if you'd like for me to bring any of these classes or others to your school or workplace, please let me know!

Deja Vu Ethics Review - September 20, 2009 - 9:00 PM to 12:00 PM - AMTA-NC Piedmont Unit Meeting - Monroe, NC
(includes Section V, Roles & Boundaries)

This class reviews the essentials of professional ethics for massage therapists and all spa professionals. Topics include the definition of a professional, role and boundaries, code of ethics, scope of practice, sexual issues and communication techniques. Students will take a boundary assessment, write a personal code of ethics and discuss and role play various types of issues faced in the touch-oriented workplace

COST - $30 for AMTA Members, $60 for non-members

Basic Boomerang Marketing - September 20, 2009 - 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM - AMTA-NC Piedmont Unit Meeting - Monroe, NC

This class will give students the tools and insight needed to fill their appointment books to the brim. From before a new client walks in the door to the moment they leave the office and after, all spa service providers have numerous opportunities to make an impression and win the ongoing business of their clients. Basic Boomerang Marketing will also benefit students by exploring their goals, motivations and desires for being successful and the fears and roadblocks that keep them from making personal, professional and financial achievements.

Students will also have the opportunity to explore their goals and to create a map of where they are trying to go in their personal and professional lives. Written and group exercises will help students tap into both their motivations for their goals and their fears (and related roadblocks) in achieving them.

Waterless Spa Treatments I - September 27, 2009 - 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM - Privai Academy - Asheville, NC

Whether you are in the beginning of growing a massage, spa or skin care business or several years into starting one, this class will give you some new options for adding waterless spa treatments to your list of treatments. Using an “add-on” approach, we will learn and practice several easy spa treatments including dry brushing, a body polish and a seaweed body wrap.

We will also discuss how to introduce and upsell the addition of spa treatments into your business and how to avoid some common pitfalls and mistakes when selecting treatments, equipment or product lines. Additionally, we’ll explore easy ways to introduce the spa experience to clients without breaking the bank

Students will need to bring their own sheets, blanket, 2-3 bath sheets or large towels, 8-12 washcloths and massage oil or lotion. Other materials will be provided by the instructor or included in the cost of tuition

Cost - $149 - 8 Contact Hours (NCBTM - includes all class supplies, written treatment protocols and some take home tools and goodies for you to use in your own practice or spa.
