Get Your Website Noticed for Less

Lately I've seen a lot of inquiries about whether small spas or independent massage therapists/estheticians should spend their money and time developing a web site. While I think having a web site can be very beneficial to almost any kind of business, I must add this caveat...

A website is like a billboard in the middle of nowhere unless people know how to find it and are directed there repeatedly. Ditto with the brochures - if they are just sitting on your desk or in a drawer they won't be much help. My question to you is, which one are you more likely to get people to read? Both can be expensive and time consuming endeavors and can have risks and rewards as do many other advertising and marketing tools, especially if no one sees them!

So here are a few tips on promoting your website that are inexpensive and easy to do. They'll help your site get noticed and get your clients spending money on it and because of it.

1. Include your website address on signage (sandwich boards, banners, in-house posters, outside signs/doors) whenever possible
2. Use an email address that includes your web site address (ex: Felicia@spalutions.com instead of Felicia@gmail.com)
3. Mention your website in your voice mail message as well as what people can find on there (map, prices, gift certificates, etc.)
4. Direct clients who call for information or current specials to your website
5. Add your website address to product labels, outgoing mail labels, shipping labels and even your checks
6. Sell gift certificates on your web site - then remind clients they can purchase them there
7. Print your website address on everything - letterhead, brochures, sales receipts, business cards, retail bags and promo items
8. List your website in any personal social media accounts you have (Facebook, LinkedIn,com, Twitter, etc.)
9. Send an email to your client list reminding them about the website and how to use it (appointment booking, online gift certificate sales, retail products, specials, free offer or newsletter, etc.)
10. Include your website address and/or blog address in your email signature line (see below for mine)

Of course there are lots of other keys to getting your website noticed for free as well as those that cost more such as submitting it to search engines or running a pay-per-click campaign. There are also a number of qualities that are vital to making your site both functional and friendly to visitors which I will talk about in an upcoming post. For now,  if you have a site in place, make sure you are doing the things above to get it noticed.

And in the spirit of setting an example, please visit my site at www.spalutions.com to check out the HUGE product sale I am having now through August 15th Thanks!
