How I Did It - A talk with Felicia Brown on January 27, 2009

I want to invite all of my readers and any other spa owners, spa professionals or aspiring entrepreneurs to attend this event where I will talk about how I grew and built my last spa and what I'm doing now to build another successful business. It is in Greensboro, NC at the Nussbaum Center so if you are in the area,  it will be easy to get to.  I am also hoping they will let me tape the event and if so I will post a video or audio clip later on.

How I Did It - January 27, 2009 - 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM - Cost: $25

Here is the link for the event. Please share it with others in the North Carolina area.

I used to be one of those people who thought death was preferable to speaking in public. I was absolutely petrified to do it. I thought about joining Toastmasters. I thought about it for 2 years. But I was too afraid of speaking to join to get over my fear of speaking. How is that for self-defeating thinking!

Finally, because I am a believer in facing my fears in order to heal them, and because it was obvious this fear was keeping me from moving further in promoting my business in the way I wanted to, I visited a local Toastmasters club. That was it. I was hooked. The positive energy I felt was contagious. I wanted more of that in my life. And to channel it in such a productive way, well that was icing on the cake. Since then I have learned to speak without fear, and to actually enjoy it. Yes, enjoy it. Who ever would have guesed that you can actually like speaking in public? I have learned how to create a great speech and how to present it well. I still have a bit of nervousness when I speak, but less and less. And that nervousness I have learned to turn into excitement, which just makes for a better speech.

Toastmasters is such a positive organization, that focuses on praise and positive feedback, that after each speech, I always look forward to doing my next one because the feedback has been so great. I thrive on praise. Don't we all? This has worked to increase my self-esteem and confidence in myself so much, and in all areas of my life, that I have come to believe joining Toastmasters was one of the best things I could have ever done for myself. Toastmasters isn't just about becoming a better speaker. It is about learning how to become a better leader. It is about learning to become all that you can. It teaches you how to see all things in life, from a more positive perspective, and how to communicate with others on all levels, more effectively. I just can't say enough about it.
If you would like to feel better about yoruself, become more of what you have always wanted to become, get over your fear of public speaking, become a more effective leader and communicator, and become more successful in your business and in your life, I highly recommend visiting a local Toastmasters club and discovering it for yourself. There are many clubs in the area, all meeting at different days and times. Find a few that work well into your schedule and visit them. Get a feel for which one fits you best. They all have a different energy, based the their members. Find one that feels good and join. It is very inexpensive and one of the best values out there. The main site, www.toastmasters.org, includes information on all the clubs near your area code. Successful people join Toastmasters.
