Going from Feeling Bitter to Better

We've all experienced things in our lives that made us angry, resentful or bitter. From an unexpected break-up or difficult divorce to the loss of a job, painful illness and other disappointments in life. When these types of things occur and we find ourself holding onto the negative emotions related to the incident or hurt, perhaps longer than we should, it is important to take steps to let go of the pain and mental suffering surrounding them.
I addressed this issue myself when I knew it was time to sell my former day spa business. I knew that I had come to the end of the road or "relationship" and had to move on. But when you have been involved in anything for close to ten years, it is hard to just let go all at once. I had to do it in stages, one day at a time, which took many months before and after the actual sale.
One of the things I did was to write up a sort of divorce agreement between myself and the business. It was actually very helpful to me in clarifying what I was grateful for about the business, how it was no longer serving me (nor I the business) and why it was time for me to do something else.
You can take the same steps I did to break free from whatever is holding you back in your own life. Click here to read my recent column on FirstWivesWorld on the tips I suggest for writing your own emotional Divorce Agreement. And if you need help coming up with one for a situation you want to walk away from, just let me know. I'd be glad to share my insights and help you through the steps I took to heal and move on from my business. Felicia@spalutions.com or 336.508.0790. Feel free to post your own insights or helpful hints for this type of issue too. Thanks!
