Felicia Brown of Spalutions is a Contributing Expert at First Wives' World
Not long ago I had an opportunity to pitch myself as an expert on relaxation and stress management to an online magazine for women going through divorce. The site, http://FirstWivesWorld.com provides support, guidance and education about how to get through the various phases, stages and emotions of a marital break-up. And while I don't consider myself an expert on divorce, I have gone through a number of similar situations and losses in my life such as "divorcing" my business, losing my parents and grandparents at an early age, and of course living through the demise of numerous long-term romantic relationships.
In some ways how you deal with these major life changes - and even many positive changes such as a new marriage, career change, or even having a baby - is very similar to going through a divorce. You find yourself re-evaluating your priorities, re-discovering your identity and re-inventing who you are. Even in positive change, you will grieve what is lost or different about your life and may be surprised by a struggle with depression and despair.
In this way, I think my column(s) on First Wives World can be of help to anyone out there. You might have to change the verbiage a little to suit your particular situation but can still apply the wisdom to you own life.
Click here to read my very first column and post, The Write Answers to Stress, for Better or Worse, on http://FirstWivesWorld.com and check out the rest of the site. I hope you will fine it helpful and will share it with others who might be interested in it.
