It's My Birthday!
I just wanted to share my thankfulness about my birthday. Today is my birthday and although the day will probably be fairly uneventful, I am having a wonderful day. I'm spending a lazy Sunday morning playing with my dogs and doing a little bit of Internet surfing. Dave and I came to the beach late yesterday after spending Friday evening and Saturday having a lot of fun together on my birthday weekend. At some point soon, I will probably make breakfast and then my husband and I will spend our day doing whatever I feel like doing. We have no plans, no agenda, no dinner reservations that I know of. But I am actually fine with that.
I talked with a friend on my way home Friday night who mentioned wanting to go on a cruise with his mother...FOR 102 DAYS. As I told him, there are precious few people I think I could stand being with for 102 days solid, especially in such close quarters. But I could do it with my husband, Dave, here at the beach in my favorite spot in NC, at home, or on a boat.
Yesterday in a moment of giddiness fueled by a great Carolina Tarheel basketball game and a lovely Mai Tai provided by the bartender at P.F Chang's, I told Dave he was the greatest husband ever. And I meant it...not just because the rum in my veins was making me feel a little warm and fuzzy, but because he really "gets" me. He knows how to make me laugh with just a few words of dark humor and lets me spend my days how I like most of the time. He is witty, smart, funny and the most caring (towards me) man I've ever known. And I REALLY like him.
I won't go on and on here for fear of making people feel woozy or nauseous, but I guess the point of all my mush is simply that every day in my life is a gift for many reasons, but especially because of Dave and everything he brings to my life. THANK YOU DAVID for making every day like my birthday.
