Bringing calm into your life

Even those of of who help others relax and heal sometimes need help letting go and unwinding. Here are a few helpful hints about how to de-stress in a stressful world. I'd love to hear other unique ideas and suggestions from others

Decide what isn't working well in your life...then divorce it. When the stress of my former business, a large successful day spa, was sending me over the edge, I wrote out a "Dear John letter" or separation agreement of sorts between the business and myself. I included a list of all the ways we had helped each other, all the ways we had grown and expressed gratitude for them all. I went on to say how now the "relationship" was no longer serving either of us and listed the terms I felt were necessary for a positive "divorce" for both of us.

Take a look at is what is causing you stress - then see how you can make the problem better... and worse. This is a great exercise that will not only make you laugh, but may uncover some of the things you are doing to add stress to your own life. An easy example..."I am feeling stressed by my level of debt." I can make it better by...making more money, robbing a bank, paying my bills on time. I can make it worse by...quitting my job, spending my limit on all credit cards, passing up opportunities to earn more, etc. Most people will find a number of obvious things they should or should not be doing (like running up their charge cards) and will feel more in control and calmer about how to fix the situation that is stressing them out.

Try Healing Touch or another type of energy healing modality. Healing touch is a relaxing, nurturing energy therapy that uses gentle touch to balance the client's overall well-being. Done primarily by nurses, it is being used more and more hospitals and medical settings as a compliment to traditional medical practices. Other types of energy work such as Polarity and Reiki work in a similar way to calm the client mentally, physically and spiritually.

Mmm....a relaxing spa day!
